Position: Senior Account Manager

FTE: 40 hours per week. We have a working day from 8 am to 5:30 pm. It is possible to work from 8 am to 4:30 pm or from 9 am to 5:30 pm

Location: We work from two locations, Heemstede and Lelystad. Both locations are easily accessible by car and / or public transport. For this position it is needed to be able to work in both locations.

Job description:

In your role you can manage a hectic working day with a variety of tasks, ranging from commercial on strategic and tactical level to coordinating and operational. You can keep a good overview and enjoy managing team members and being advising and coordinating in the operational processes. The projects we do, as well as internal processes, can be very complex because of the pharmaceutical nature of our business. Here it is important that you can sense the mutual relationships between colleagues, suppliers, customers and processes. You are a go-getter with an entrepreneurial character and an open and friendly attitude. You can weigh up the interests of different parties and make a decision. Based on this you can get stakeholders on board.

Your commercial insight is well-developed, which makes you self-aware and convincing in negotiations with customers and suppliers, but also allows you to make the right decision in complex commercial challenges. In this position you will work closely with our sales back office, called Direct Sales Support, who are responsible for the input and follow-up of quotations and orders. With our shipping department you work together to ensure correct handling of orders. In addition, you work closely with colleagues from the quality department and the purchasing department.

The Account Manager is responsible for Sales, Business Development and the execution of orders in close contact with the team of dedicated sales support (DSS) and the shipping department.

Responsibilities & tasks:

  • Create and execute sales strategies for the area to achieve targets
  • Work on Tenders and RFQ’s – analyse, plan, and formulate a strategy for an efficient handling of projects with maximum result
  • Project and Account management
  • Develop and maintain (key) partners & customer relationships
  • Cooperate closely with internal departments ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Development of strategic and tactical account plans for key customers
  • New business development
  • Delivery on annual revenues and contribution to margin objectives
  • Manage the internal team
  • Negotiate on contracts and deals with customers


Our ideal candidate has the following profile:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years sales experience in international business to business markets
  • Experience with international tenders and RFQ's
  • Experience with international supply chain for fast moving consumer goods
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical- or food market
  • Experience in Project Management, handling multiple projects in a matrix leadership environment
  • Experience with international funding agencies and /or purchasing agencies is an advantage
  • The drive to make a difference in global health where Amstelfarma is a key partner

Job requirements:

About the organization:

Amstelfarma is an internationally operating pharmaceutical wholesaler with a wide variety of customers, including UN organizations, international aid organizations and wholesalers in developing countries. Amstelfarma has 30 employees divided over two locations (Heemstede and Lelystad). At our organization we work with various cultures and we speak both Dutch and English. Communication with customers is mainly in English. We are an informal organization with short lines of communication. Amstelfarma has various departments such as purchasing, warehouse, financial and a quality department.
